A Christmas Escape

Obviously set in the Victorian era, this story has some credible characters who meet a week out from Christmas for the first time on a volcanic island in the Mediterranean Sea. Lurking in the background is a murky tale of woe that is only revealed as the guests at the isolated yet welcoming Italian homestead need to cope with the physical dangers of the volcano's untimely eruption.
The tale is unravelled and the murderer shows his deadly hands, thinking that the molten lava and broken slipping earth will swallow the evidence and the people who are able to link events together to realise who the culprit among them really is.
No chapters in this novella, but plenty of action and as a reader, you want the despicable person caught and the others free from harm. There are many charming moments between some of the characters as they learn to appreciate what good each other brings into their relationships.
Worth setting a day aside to read it.
